Disciplinary matters at higher education institutions 2007
A review of the decisions with regard to disciplinary matters at higher education institutions in 2007 shows that 437 students were the subject of disciplinary measures in 2007. This was a reduction of approximately 9% in comparison with 2006. It is the first time that there has been a reduction in this figure since the reviews began. The number is even less than it was in 2005. The number of students who are the subject of disciplinary measures remains, however, low at 0.16%. The most common reason for disciplinary measures being taken is plagiarism. Of the 437 students who were the subject of disciplinary measures in 2007, 310 were suspended whilst 127 were issued with warnings. In comparison with 2006, the number of suspensions has decreased by approximately 18% and the number of warnings by approximately 21%.
